2022 GUIDE TO SUMMERTIME FUN

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/eB9T1JYMnNI The hot and long days of summer are upon us and families from coast to coast are eager for some fun in the sun. In fact, more Americans plan to travel this year, with 73% of consumers expected to take an average of two trips. Hitting the road remains popular, while confidence in flying has increased from last year. According to recent stats, 79% of people plan to drive to at least one vacation destination, while air travel accounts for 45%—increasing by 5% compared to 2021. However, staycations remain popular due to record-high gas prices, escalating airfares and the war in Ukraine. It’s been found that 25% of Americans will travel shorter distances and 23% plan on less expensive activities. Whether traveling near or far, spending time with family and friends ranks high on the list of anticipated summer activities, including beaches, ball games and barbeques. Grilling season has always been a favorite with many backyard chefs expected to cook up and serve 50 billion hamburgers and 20 billion hotdogs this year. Wellness is also a high-priority, with many Americans engaging in healthful summertime habits, like running, biking, and including supplements into their diets. Braun-Silva has some unique ways to enjoy the summer while building special memories with friends and family. TRAVEL SMART: Summer travel is here and it is going to be a busy season. New Amex Trendex data found that more than half of respondents agree they plan to travel more this summer than in previous years. Braun-Silva’s first tip is to travel smart, saying, “Most of us are looking for added flexibility and confidence when booking a trip. Whether visiting white sandy beaches along crystal blue waters or hiking a national park, there are services available to help make traveling easy and convenient." One way to travel smart is through American Express' Trip Cancel Guard, a new benefit for American Express U.S. Card Members that truly allows travelers to cancel flights for any reason. The smart travel tips don't stop there - from building a dream itinerary to finding the best offers on flights and hotels, consider booking your travel with American Express to up the ante. American Express Travel is a one-stop-shop for planning a vacation thanks to their world-class customer service, 24/7 access to expert travel consultants, exclusive programs and benefits, and more. For those who want an elevated travel experience without breaking the bank, Braun-Silva says U.S. Platinum Card Members can get access to the International Airline Program through Amex Travel which gives travelers savings on international flights for First, Business and Premium Economy seats across more than 20 world class airlines. For more information, visit AmexTravel.com to book. Terms apply. Direct link: AmexTravel.com Social media handles: @AmericanExpress Hashtags: #AmexTravel PRIORITIZE WELLNESS: Overall wellness is a high-priority for many of us. Braun-Silva points out that there are many ways we can engage in healthful summertime habits. “This time of year is perfect for walking, hiking, running, and biking. To support these outdoor activities, it’s helpful to include supplements into our diets,” says Braun-Silva, “As we age our bodies produce less collagen, which helps with healthy joints and skin elasticity. I’ve been adding collagen into my daily routine for years.” MD Logic Health’s Marine Collagen with COFACTORS is made from the highest quality wild-caught non-GMO white fish, which promotes lean muscle mass, strong bones, hair, skin, and nails, supports gut health, and promotes new Collagen production. Braun-Silva adds, “It easily dissolves and has no fishy taste or smell so you can add it to fun summertime drinks, like smoothies, and your meals, to boost your protein intake, at any time without the unnecessary calories.” MD Logic Health, Marine Collagen has a special blend of cofactors including Vitamins A, C, Zinc, and Copper, and also includes Biotin, so that your health can radiate from the inside out. For a limited time, use code COLLAGEN for 15% off. For more information, go https://www.mdlogichealth.com/products/marine-collagen. The lifestyles expert says, “One of my favorite summer desserts is a delicious ice cream cake—perfect for pool parties, backyard BBQs, Father’s Day, or any fun summer gathering. Everyone loves them.” There are several cakes to choose from, like Carvel Sheet Cake and Lil Love Strawberry Crunchie Cake to OREO. Braun-Silva recommends picking one or two up at your local grocery store by looking in the bakery freezer case or by going to ILoveIceCreamCakes.com for a store locator. DataWeave Launches Interactive Dashboard to Track U.S. Grocery Inflation

DataWeave

DataWeave, a global leader in retail data, pricing and AI analytics, today launches its interactive eCommerce Grocery Price Tracker, providing a detailed, nuanced view of price changes and serving as an index of U.S. pricing trends. DataWeave examines pricing and availability by category and retailer in light of inflation and market-driven economic changes. Analyzing over 117,000 SKUs, the Tracker showcases how grocery brands and retailers are adjusting their pricing in an inflationary environment as they work to stay engaged with an increasingly price-sensitive consumer. DataWeave’s Grocery Price Tracker, which will be updated monthly, shows month-over-month price changes starting June 2021. It also indicates shifts in product availability. “The American consumer has clearly been feeling more than a pinch at the grocery store. This has been driven by a confluence of ongoing global supply chain constraints, regional conflicts and climate change. All this has added up to pricing pressures and availability issues,” said Karthik Bettadapura, CEO of DataWeave. “Our data reveals that the sharp price increases we saw in December 2021 across grocery retailers and delivery intermediaries, have continued to rise ever since. With our complimentary tracker, our aim is to enable retailers and analysts alike to spot inflection points for these trends as they evolve.” Each month, the Grocery Price Tracker will highlight the retailer that offers products with a maximum price decrease across a certain category, and one imposing the maximum price increase across a particular category. It also shows average month-over-month price changes across all products tracked within each category and retailer analyzed. “With inflation at a 40-year high and dynamic pricing changing the competitive landscape daily, we continue to hear that affordability is top-of-mind for consumers, while availability in certain categories, such as baby formula, has escalated to an urgent national issue,” said Krishnan Thyagarajan, President and COO of DataWeave. We hope our ongoing Grocery Price Tracker and inflation indices we are developing for other categories will provide the fastest visibility to the latest trends and greater insight for retailers and brands.” Report Methodology To come to its findings, DataWeave analyzed 117,381 SKUs, tracking price variations and stock availability across 16 grocery retailers and delivery intermediaries, dating from June 2021 to the present, interactively noting price variations and stock availability by retailer. # # # DataWeave is a leading provider of advanced sales optimization solutions for e-commerce businesses, consumer brands and marketplaces. GSBA AND COMCAST RENEW RELIEF EFFORT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES WITH THIRD ROUND OF “READY FOR BUSINESS FUND”

Comcast Washington

Following the success of the Ready for Business Fund in 2020 and 2021, GSBA – Washington’s LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce – and Comcast are renewing the Ready for Business Fund relief effort this year to provide more than $200,000 in grants to eligible small businesses throughout the state. Starting Monday, June 13, small business owners may find more information and apply for Ready for Business Fund grants at theGSBA.org/ready-for-business. According to a 2022 survey, almost all small businesses (97%) are concerned about inflation, and rising costs are the most significant threats small businesses currently face. Boosting revenue from online sales has now become the No.1 priority for small businesses. To offer some relief and help small businesses continue to grow and adapt, the Ready for Business Fund will provide $2,500 cash grants to more than 80 small businesses throughout Washington. Emphasis will be placed on small business owners at greater risk, including people of color, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Small businesses located in rural areas of Washington will also be considered. “Runaway inflation and increased expenses are hitting our small businesses hard in Washington,” said Ilona Lohrey, GSBA Deputy Director. “Providing a cash grant with wrap-around services to promote visibility and support is critical as more small businesses use more digital technology to drive online revenue. $2,500 may not seem like much, but for these small business owners, a microgrant may be what is needed to invest in a website, help build online sales tools, launch a social media effort, or purchase new technology.” “Small businesses play a critical role in our local economies. They provide jobs and serve our communities throughout Washington. They need our continued support to meet new economic challenges, and we want to help them,” said Diem Ly, Community Impact Director, Comcast Washington. “That is why we believe the Ready for Business Fund is so important. Small businesses across the state need the relief.” The Ready for Business Fund was founded in the summer of 2020 with a $100,000 investment from Comcast and GSBA as the fund manager. Over the past two years, the fund has distributed $2,500 cash grants to more than 120 small businesses in Washington. The Ready for Business Fund was renewed this year with $75,000 in funding from Comcast and GSBA, reprising its role as the program and fund manager. Grants from the Ready for Business Fund will be made possible by more than $150,000 in additional donations from Pepsi, T-Mobile, US Bank, Meta, and Verity Credit Union and a $100,00 grant from King County.
