College of American Pathologists: Cancer Rates Soaring in Younger Adults

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/rq8XcHBnPw0 Cancer doesn’t discriminate by age today. Consider celebrities like Chadwick Boseman, who died from colon cancer; Olivia Munn, who recently underwent a double mastectomy; Ninja, a popular streamer on Twitch diagnosed with skin cancer; and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, who is currently being treated for the disease. All of them were diagnosed before the age of 50. Why is this happening and what can we do to catch it early? There are several reasons: diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors. The College of American Pathologists is emphasizing the importance of early detection, screening, and being vigilant regarding symptoms. A nationwide media tour was conducted to discuss this important issue featuring Dr. Donald Karcher, president of the College of American Pathologists. Topics that Dr. Karcher discussed included: • What is behind the soaring trend of younger adults being diagnosed with cancer? • What symptoms to look for to improve cancer outcomes. • What cancers can and should be screened for? • What if you don’t meet the minimum age requirements for screening but are having symptoms? • Discussing the importance of early detection. Shedding Light on Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

YourUpdateTV

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a rare, progressive, and genetic disease that currently affects about 40,000 people in the United States. CF is the result of a defective gene, inherited from each parent, and the disease can impact people of all races and ethnicities. Recently, KC White, Board Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, participated in a nationwide satellite media tour to discuss the disease, her personal journey, and how the Foundation is helping progress care and treatment options. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/8wj8u0JEqLU CF is a life-shortening disease that prevents our bodies from clearing mucus. This can lead to lung infections, poor nutrition, lung disease, and a host of unique challenges that can impact every aspect of a person’s life. When it was first discovered, it was considered a fatal pediatric disease. But due to transformative advancements in treatments and high-quality care, the life-expectancy for someone born with CF today is 56. While that number is climbing there is still a long way to go and unfortunately, not all people with CF equally benefit from this progress. KC White was elected chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2022 after serving on the Board since 2005. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at age 3, White has been a committed volunteer and inspiring advocate for the Foundation since childhood and is the first person with CF to serve as board chair. When she was diagnosed, she wasn’t expected to live past high school age, but her family refused to accept that fate, which prompted their dedication to the Foundation’s work. Because of recent treatments known as modulators, about 90% of the CF population (including KC) experienced an incredible transformation in their health. With this though, comes navigating unplanned challenges including careers, finances, family, and more. In addition to fueling the research, particularly in genetic therapies, that will lead to transformative treatments for the entire CF population, the CF Foundation works to support the CF community in all aspects of their lives through support programs and fostering connection opportunities. Every May, the cystic fibrosis community comes together for CF Awareness Month to educate the public about the rare disease, share personal stories, and encourage people to get involved and unite behind a shared mission: finding a cure for all people with CF. The CF Foundation is committed to finding a cure and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives. The Foundation is aggressively funding research and drug development, advancing high-quality, specialized care, and partnering with and advocating for the CF community. For more information, visit CFF.ORG/CFMONTH About KC White KC White was elected chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2022 after serving on the Board since 2005. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at age 3, White has been a committed volunteer and inspiring advocate for the Foundation since childhood, speaking at her first Foundation event when she was only 9 years old. She is the first person with CF to serve as board chair. White received her Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022 and currently serves as an assistant instructor in the program. She is also the Head Varsity Women’s Lacrosse coach for the Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Tigers. She and her husband, Justin, have one son, Mac. About the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a donor-supported nonprofit organization leading the relentless pursuit of a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation is committed to providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, advancing high-quality, specialized care, and partnering with and advocating for the CF community. The Foundation funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support. The organization supports and accredits a national network of over 130 CF care centers recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease. Also, the Foundation manages support programs and fosters connection opportunities for the CF community. Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation’s impact is made possible by the work of nearly 70 local chapters across the country. Contact Details YourUpdateTV +1 212-736-2727 yourupdatetv@gmail.com

Agents Who are REALTORS® Preview Housing Market Trends for the Summer and Beyond

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: Click here to view With the spring homebuying season in full swing, many Americans are contemplating whether it’s a good time to buy or sell a home. Higher mortgage rates, limited housing inventory and competition for the few houses on the market are some of the many reasons sellers and buyers should work with an agent who is a REALTOR® to find the right home and negotiate the terms of sale. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, single-family existing-home prices nationwide climbed 5% over the past year to a median price of $389,400. Greater than 90% of the country’s metro areas experienced home price growth in the first quarter of 2024 despite facing the highest mortgage rates in two decades. While mortgage rates are nearly double those seen during the first two years of the pandemic, they are still considered historically low. Moreover, homeownership continues to be a catalyst for Americans to build generational wealth. Over the past decade, the median-priced home in the U.S. gained nearly $200,000 in value, making the typical homeowner 40 times wealthier than if they had not purchased a home or remained a renter. An agent who is a REALTOR® can help you achieve the dream of homeownership and create long-term wealth and financial stability for your family. Summer Camp & Your Child’s Mental Health

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/lE4NUj6i9ew Physical and mental health go hand in hand. This is as true for youth as it is for adults. And with summer camp season approaching, we once again ponder the impactful role that a camp experience plays in the lives of many children—an experience that often creates lifelong meaningful relationships and positively impacts mental wellness. Children born and living with serious illnesses can experience unimaginable stress. It is for this reason that the positive benefits of the camp are at the heart of SeriousFun Children’s Network, founded by Paul Newman. Thirty-five years ago, Paul Newman founded a camp where kids living with serious and life-limiting medical conditions could break away from the everyday challenges of their illness to discover new possibilities, and more about themselves. Today, Serious Fun Children’s Network, the leading network of medical specialty camps in the world, includes 30 camps and programs which have delivered more than 1.7 million life-changing camp experiences to kids living with a wide variety of serious medical conditions and their families, totally free of charge. A nationwide media tour was conducted on May 9th featuring Dr. Laura Blaisdell, Medical Advisor for SeriousFun Children’s Network. Announcing Nilu27: a Hypercar Brand from Celebrated Designer Sasha Selipanov

Nilu

Nilu27 is the company founded by Sasha and Inna Selipanov to introduce an extraordinary vehicle lineup over the next ten years. And it begins this summer with the public debut of their first vehicle: the breathtaking V12-powered NILU hypercar, which will be revealed to the public at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week in August. The new company – named from a combination of the founders’ daughters’ names, Nica and Lucia – brings an unrivalled depth of automotive knowledge and expertise. Sasha’s sports car legacy includes landmarks that began with the Lamborghini Huracán before moving on to the Bugatti Chiron and Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo. Sasha was also responsible for the design of the Koenigsegg Gemera and Koenigsegg CC850, among the many vehicles stemming from his two-decade career in the automotive industry. Nilu27 was co-founded by Inna Selipanov, who brings a wealth of marketing and business development experience to the venture. Aside from being married for more than 20 years, Inna and Sasha enjoyed dynamic collaborations during their respective stints at Genesis and Koenigsegg. Combining their complementary skill sets in this new endeavor puts them on a unique path to disrupt the industry. CRAZY ENDEAVOR Sasha felt sports car development had veered off course in an effort to check way too many boxes. The automotive industry’s fascination with technology has led to a plethora of technologically advanced, yet emotionally sterile products. Sasha’s vision is to explore the DNA of what defines a sports car, focusing on an emotional engagement with each of our senses. The vision is unique in both his approach to the product and brand itself, resulting in vehicles that promise to be beautiful and brutal in equal measure. The NILU hypercar will create an authentic analog driving experience, deploying a naturally aspirated engine designed to set the driver’s senses tingling. “ One of my most vivid childhood memories was seeing an old magazine clipping of Gilles Villeneuve in his #27 F1 car power sliding out of a corner. I instantly fell in love with the image of that visceral, beautiful beast,” Sasha recalled. “This passion took me on a rollercoaster ride through my career, culminating in Nilu27. Now, my team and I are finally able to explore the quintessential automotive themes of beauty and brutality without the limitations commonly imposed by the industry or preconceived commitments to technology. We cannot wait to present our first car this summer! ” PEBBLE BEACH DEBUT After living in Sasha’s mind and sketchbook since 2007, his vision has taken a physical form and will be revealed first to a number of industry insiders in Los Angeles in early August. It will then be seen by the public and media for the first time on the ramp at Pebble Beach Golf Course on August 15 during Monterey Car Week. Following its debut, the NILU hypercar will appear at a number of events and functions during the week, culminating in its appearance on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 17-18. Tackling Childhood Peanut Allergies

YourUpdateTV

Right now, more children in the U.S. are living with peanut allergy than ever before, and approximately 75% will not outgrow their allergy. Recently, Pediatric Allergist, Dr. Douglas Mack, and Sarah Korieshi, the Mother of a peanut allergic child, participated in a nationwide satellite media tour to discuss the impact on children and innovative new treatment options that can help. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/5uKicnsGHv8 The repercussions of this condition are profound, extending beyond mere dietary restrictions to impacting a child's daily life, social interactions, and overall well-being. The constant fear of accidental exposure and the potential for severe allergic reactions can also be extremely difficult for families to navigate. The increase in prevalence over the past 20 years has driven a growing need for effective treatment options to manage the condition. For doctors, that means treatments that reduces the likelihood of an allergic reaction in the case of accidental exposure, and treatments that work within the lifestyle of the child and family. The good news is that recent years have brought about a spate of new innovations in the allergy space. For example, there is currently an ongoing clinical trial evaluating Viaskin TM Peanut, a patch containing the equivalent of one one-thousandth of one peanut kernel. The patch is applied each day to a child’s back in order to build up a tolerance to peanut protein, making it less likely that a child will have a reaction after an accidental exposure. For parents, a treatment like this would be life-changing, as a non-invasive option – something that can be incorporated into our busy lives, without any restrictions to regular activities. Having access to a treatment option that allows children and parents to participate in typical activities for a child, such as birthday parties, sports activities, attending camp, or even school, would give parents peace of mind and children the care-free life they deserve. For more information, visit vitesseallergystudy.com About Dr. Douglas Mack Dr. Mack is co-author of clinical guidelines on the prevention of allergy, oral immunotherapy and anaphylaxis and focuses on oral immunotherapy for food at Halton Pediatric Allergy clinic. Dr. Douglas Mack has been a pediatric allergy, asthma, and immunology specialist for over 10 years. Dr. Mack is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and is an affiliate of Sick Kids. He sits on the board of directors at the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is co-author of clinical guidelines on the prevention of allergy, oral immunotherapy, and anaphylaxis. Dr. Mack is co-founder of Halton Pediatric Allergy clinic where his focus is on oral immunotherapy for food. About Sarah Korieshi Sarah learned that her daughter Zara had a deadly peanut allergy when she was just 9 months old. The first thing she thought was, not only how life-threatening eating a food can be, but also living with the constant fear of what may happen every time she eats. There has always been constant fear with how unpredictable a reaction can be, and the anxiety that comes with solely relying on avoidance really takes a toll.
